Practice Areas Business Litigation Practice Emphasis Mr. Garrison possesses extensive experience resolving legal problems faced by businesses and businesspeople. Dual-state licensed (Texas and California), Mr. Garrison provides his clients (which range from individual shareholders to global corporations) with expertise in business litigation – including ownership, governance, contract, intellectual property and employment disputes – and the resolution of business disputes before litigation arises. Since Mr. Garrison is a trial attorney who has managed many complex, multi-jurisdictional matters, he is able to address and resolve difficult problems in the most efficient manner possible. Representative Matters • Represented two minority shareholders of large food corporation in multi-jurisdiction litigation challenging propriety of Delaware reverse stock split and corporate governance. Corporation paid clients $10.76/share at time of transaction. Obtained $37.00/share (additional $2.2 million) through settlement on tenth day of trial co-chaired with California counsel. • Successfully defended several computer programmers and management personnel accused of misappropriating trade secret and copyright information from two large defense contractors and using such information to start a competitive technology business. • Successfully resolved approximately $450,000 lease and non-disturbance dispute that threatened continued existence of small-cap developer of RFID technology. • Co-chaired jury trial in which client, a flight support company, was sued by AT&T. The jury awarded AT&T nothing but awarded client over $50,000 for its counterclaims against AT&T, including fraud. • First-chaired bench trial of client receiver’s $60,000 fraudulent transfer case against corporation and gained “alter ego” liability against defendant individual shareholder. • Successfully resolved gender discrimination employment complaint against for-profit and non-profit Texas corporations. • First-chaired jury trial of client’s business fraud case that resulted in 12-0 jury verdict and significant monetary and punitive damages. • Successfully defended client’s furniture import business from Chinese corporation seeking $2 million based on claims of breach of contract and trade secret misappropriation. • Successfully defended accounting firm from trust and corporation seeking over $1 million based on claims of negligent misrepresentation, breach of third-party beneficiary contract and professional negligence. • Co-authored extensive summary judgment motion that defeated Mexican corporation’s multi-million dollar claims against Wal-Mart for RICO violations and unfair competition in the distribution and sale of instant soup. • Successfully defended debtor-in-possession California corporation from $60 million contract claim concerning extensive real estate located in Mexico.
