Scheef & Stone Launches Diversity Intern Program

Scheef & Stone, L.L.P. seeks to recruit and retain new and lateral attorneys with strong legal skills and diverse backgrounds. Part of our commitment is developing strong relationships with professional, educational, and community groups. To this end, in the fall of 2009, Scheef & Stone created a Diversity Intern Program by partnering with Southern Methodist University's Dedman School of Law to find talented young minority law students looking to enhance their classroom education. Scheef & Stone hires one intern for each semester, and one student for a summer intern program. The students are offered opportunities to participate in as many "real world" assignments as possible, such as attending mediations, trials, and hearings, sitting in on client meetings, and are also asked to provide assistance with various research and drafting projects. The hope is this program will have a positive impact in the education and lives of these students, as well as, open the door to the firm's greater commitment to creating a diverse work enviornment.
