Dallas I.S.D. Law Magnet Students Visit Scheef & Stone, L.L.P. Offices

April 14 and 15, 2011, approximately fifty freshmen students from L.G. Pinkston High School’s Law Magnet program visited the Dallas offices of Scheef & Stone, L.L.P.  Pinkston’s program includes students interested in the legal and law enforcement fields.  The students heard from several Scheef & Stone lawyers on different topics such as "Being a Lawyer in a Digital World" from IP and Technology lawyer, Tom Kulik, as well as  "Higher Education on a Very Low Budget" from Bill Garrison.  Bill shared his knowledge on obtaining scholarships and grants for tuition. Also, Brad Whitlock spoke with students about "How Did I Get Here?" outlining his path from law school to present as a Scheef & Stone lawyer.

Pinkston High School's students had a lively interactive session with Betsy Wade, Scheef & Stone's marketing assistant, regarding "Law Firm Branding and Websites".  Will Hester (pictured below) spoke on "Investigations and Social Media".  Mr. Hester is a paralegal for the firm, as well as a licensed private investigator. He discussed the different sources to find information about a person including social and business networks, along with identity search engines. Firm Administrator, Brenda Conine, entertained the groups with information about managing a law firm causing several students to state that this sounds like the path they would like to follow.
